CEDEC Footpath Gravel

Cedec is a footpath gravel that when rolled to compaction, knits together to form a surface that is less susceptible to spreading and separating like loose chippings, resulting in a neat and firm finish.

Developed in 1992 by CED Ltd for a project at Cabot Square, Canary Wharf where the traditional limestone based footpath gravels were not suitable, due to their high PH levels. It’s success on this project has encouraged many designers around the country to specify its use. It can now be seen in various public and private places all over the UK, ranging from Regents Park  to the Outer Hebrides to domestic gardens and many more.

Aswell as being aesthetically pleasing in appearance Cedec is extremely durable, with the appropriate sub base Cedec can be driven on with all types of service vehicles including fire engines.

Specially graded to 6-0mm in size and now available in three colours; gold, red and silver, all being made up of granites and quartzites means that Cedec is chemically inert, something which is necessary where pH levels are to be controlled.

Cedec uniquely packs, it does not set, therefore it remains porous after compaction.  Rainwater will effectively filter down through the Cedec, where once met with an inert porous sub base it will continue to pass through, making it a true SUDS friendly product. Cedec must not be laid on concrete or any other non porous base unless a special drainage layer is incorporated into the design.

A favoured choice for parks. disabled access, leisure, historical and specialist sites where a natural low maintanance finish is required.
